Associate Professor at Department of Biomedical Technology, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic

Roman Matějka is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, where he leads the Bioreactors for Tissue and Organ Replacements research group.

His work centers on the development of advanced bioreactor systems that simulate complex physiological conditions—such as pulsatile flow, pressure, mechanical strain, and shear stress—to guide the cells for differentiation and remodeling of 3D bioprinted, collagen-based scaffolds.

His research aims to replicate native extracellular matrix (ECM) architecture, enhance mechanical stability, and promote microvascularization, with a primary focus on cardiovascular tissue engineering and soft tissues.
