My research combines technologies in human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) biology, neuroscience and bioengineering to develop cellular models of the human nervous system. Key research achievements I have led include development of methods to differentiate hPSC to lineages of the nervous system, specifically dorsal root ganglia sensory neurons, dopaminergic neurons, and auditory neurons.
My studies have contributed to advancing knowledge in human neurodevelopment and made an impact in regenerative medicine for neurological diseases, particularly Friedreich’s ataxia, Parkinson’s disease and hearing loss. Recognition of my scientific achievements includes recipient of Australian Research Council Future Fellowship Award.
