Leonid Ionov

Leonid Ionov has been Professor of Biofabrication at the University of Bayreuth since 2017. He earned his Diploma in Chemistry from Lomonosov Moscow State University (1999), his PhD in Polymer Chemistry (2005), and habilitation in Physical Chemistry (2015) from TU Dresden.

He previously served as Group Leader at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, tenure-track Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia, and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute.

His research focuses on stimuli-responsive polymers, programmable materials, and 4D biofabrication, with recent advances in bioink–nanofiber composites for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
