Dr. Kaushik Chatterjee is a Professor in the Departments of Materials Engineering and Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, where he also serves as Chair of the Department of Bioengineering. His research integrates materials science and bioengineering to advance biomaterials and regenerative technologies.

Dr. Chatterjee holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Pennsylvania State University and has completed postdoctoral training at NIST and NIH in the United States. He has received numerous honors including the DST Ramanujan Fellowship, the ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence Award, and fellowships from the Royal Society of Chemistry and the US National Academies.

An active leader in the global biomaterials community, he serves as Associate Editor for several journals including Journal of Materials Chemistry B and Frontiers in Medical Technology – Regenerative Technologies. His work plays a vital role in translating innovative biomaterials into clinical and industrial applications.
