Hemanthram Varadaraju is an accomplished biotechnology and chemical engineering professional with 15 years of experience in the life sciences and biomaterials industries. He earned his bachelor’s in biotechnology in 2008 and a master’s in chemical engineering in 2011, focusing on nanofiber membranes for chromatography. Hemanth began his career in cell and gene therapy, specializing in scale-up and processing. Since joining Modern Meadow in 2013, he has led innovative projects, initially focusing on cell culture scale-up for meat and leather applications and later building a Bioprocess team for recombinant collagen production through yeast fermentation. Over the last seven years, he has driven engineering teams to deliver multiple innovations in material science using Bio-Alloy technology, culminating in Innovera, a notable biofabricated leather alternative. As the leader of technical operations and quality management at Modern Meadow, he is recognized as a thought leader in the field and looking forward to share his insights at the International Biofabrication Conference.
