David Kilian is an Assistant Professor leading a research group on Biofabrication and Biomaterials in Cellular Agriculture at the Complex Tissue Regeneration Department of the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine, Maastricht University, Netherlands. 

David was trained in Applied Life Sciences (BSc) and Regenerative Biology and Medicine (MSc). In 2022 he completed his PhD at the Centre for Translational Bone, Joint and Soft Tissue Research at the School of Medicine in Dresden, Germany, developing bioprinting techniques for patient-specific osteochondral tissue substitutes. From 2022 to 2025, he did postdoctoral work at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University, USA, leveraging diffusion-based 3D bioprinting strategies to generate multi-cellular tissues, perfusable vascular networks and bovine muscle fibers for cultivated meat application.
